10th Meeting of the German-Japanese Society for Social Sciences
The topic on the quality of life and working life in a comparative perspective between Japan & Germany has been selected, as it seems of high relevance for the sustainability of our societies. The meeting will concentrate on the following dimensions as sessions: 1. The political and legal frameworks for quality of life & working life; 2. The economic dimension and factors; 3. The social dimension; 4. The cultural dimension; 5. The quality of the environment including the built environment.

The Annual International Conference of the German Association for Social Science Research on Japan (VSJF) will take place from November 9-12, 2006 at the Handelskammer in Hamburg. This year’s topic will be: „Social Science Matters“.

"VSJF - German Association for Social Science Research on Japan"
V-S-J-F are the initials for "Vereinigung fuer sozialwissenschaftliche Japanforschung".
The Association was founded in 1988. Its general aim was and still is to strengthen the study of contemporary Japan in the German-speaking countries, namely Switzerland, Austria, and Germany. The Association is conceived as a forum for researchers and students from the fields of Japanese studies as well as from social sciences, including cultural studies.
Twice a year, the Association publishes a newsletter (in German) for its members. The newsletter is also being distributed over the internet.
