Every year, the Association organizes a 2-3 day conference. Each conference is devoted to an overarching theme. The main program consists of a series of presentations highlighting the theme from various research perspectives.

This year's annual conference will focus on the topic "Risk and East Asia". It will take place from Friday, November 20 to Sunday, November 23, 2009 at the Japanese German Center Berlin.

The Workshop "Publish (in English- Language Journals) or Perish" will take place from Thursday, November 19 to Friday, November 20, 2009 in Berlin. The organizers Verena Blechinger-Talcott and Sabine Frühstück have issued a Call for Papers.
