Gesellschaft für Japanforschung (GJF) ››
The German Association for Japanese Studies was founded in 1990 to promote academic research on Japan.
On the website you will find information on research groups supported by the GJF, on the German Congress on Japanese Studies and the J-Studien mailing list. Furthermore the website offers a collection of links as well as a collection of publications by the GJF.

"The German-Japanese Society for Social Sciences strives to contribute to the advancement of knowledge about present cultural, social, and psychological processes and phenomena in Japan and Germany that is acquired from Japanese and German perspective and, whenever possible, in a comparative framework".

The German-Japanese Association of Jurists is committed to strengthen "the cooperation of German and Japanese jurists of all occupations and to deepen the mutual understanding of their legal systems". Furthermore the Association tries to "encourage personal and professional contact and cooperation among people interested in German and Japanese law".
The website offers information on current events and publications of the Association, internships in Japan as well as an online version of the Journal of Japanese Law which is published by the DJJV.
The German Association for Asian Studies strives to support "scientific studies of contemporary Asian affairs" as well as to promote "co-operation among individuals and institutions interested in Asian affairs and working in the field of politics, business, culture, and science, both on national and international levels."
Their website offers downloads for all English articles published in "ASIEN", the DGA's quarterly journal. You will also find information on current conferences, lectures and courses on Asian Studies in Germany, Switzerland and Austria (in German).
Japan-related Organisations

Deutsch-Japanischer Wirtschaftskreis ››
The German-Japanese Industrial Cooperation Committee is a non-profit organization aiming at the promotion of economic ties between Japan and Germany.
Their activities include an information service about Japan, business in Japan and Japanese etiquette, seminars and trainings, the organization of conferences about Japanese economy and an online job market.

Deutsches Institut für Japanstudien (DIJ), Tôkyô ››
The German Institute for Japanese Studies "seeks to contribute to mutual understanding" between Japan and Germany and to deepen the "knowledge of both contemporary Japan - cultural, economic, and social - and of Japanese-German relations. The work of the institute is intended both to stimulate the further development of Japan-related research in Germany and to support younger scholars."
The website offers information on current events, research, scholarships and publications.
The Institute for Asian Studies is one of the four institutes of the German Institute of Global and Area Studies (GIGA). The Institutes' objective is the observation of and research on current political, economical and social changes and development in Asian countries.
The website contains information on publications, the library of the IfA, an extensive collection of links as well as current research projects.
The Institute for the Cultural and Intellectual History of Asia of the Austrian Academy of Sciences is dedicated to "the investigation of Asian cultures. Research activities aim at furthering our knowledge in various specific regional disciplines as well as the understanding of the multiple developments, contacts, and mutual influences among Asian cultures."
Their website offers information on publications, current events and activities as well as web materials and online texts.
The Japanese-German Center Berlin strives to “promote and strengthen Japanese-German and international cooperation in the fields of science and culture as well as their connections with the business world.”
